El Regalo de Popayan
Around 100 small-scale coee growers from Asociación de Productores Orgánicos del Cauca
STORY
Popayan is considered one of the most beautiful and well conserved cities in Colombia and Latin America. This city, or as they call it, “The White City” due to its white buildings, beatiful streets, elegant houses and churches, and amazing gastronomy, is surrounded by mountains that are home to the group of coffee growers that contribute to El Regalo de Popayan. The region where El Regalo de Popayan coffee is grown is a unique growing environment located high on a plateau called la Meseta de Popayan, here, the average farm size is between 1 and 2 hectares and production is mostly organic. Due to the favourable coffee growing conditions, farmers here have been able to reduce and in many cases stop using all together agrochemicals and because of this, this group decided to certifiy themselves as organic.
“El Regalo de Popayan has notes of baked apples, cinnamon and allspice, with a coca finish and round body. Definitely coffee you can drink all day!”
