La Magdalena

Around 250 independent farmers from the municipality of Pitalito
STORY

Pitalito is considered the second most important municipality in Huila after Neiva, the capital. It is located in the Macizo Colombiano, the area where the three Colombian mountain ranges come together. Pitalito is also known as Valley of Laboyos due its location over the Valley of Rio Grande de la Magdalena. The convergence and influence of the Magdalena River creates a variety of micro-climates, which are essential for creating the many different flavor profiles that you can find here. It is considered one of the largest coffee producing areas in Colombia. The area is surrounded by ancient oaks, mountain springs, and vast forest reserve.

For Caravela, La Magdalena is synonymous with conservation, culture, healthy farming practices, and community. La Magdalena demonstrates that coffee farmers can improve their quality of life by producing quality coffee.

“La Magdalena coffee displays notes of red apple and caramel with hints of aromatic vanilla, honey, a tangerine acidity and a silky body and long lasting finish.”
