STORY
Imbabura, is one of the northern provinces of Ecuador, known as the “Province of the Lakes” for its vast number of lakes such as San Pablo, Mojanda and Negra, and the lagoons of Cuicocha, Yahuarcocha, Puruhanta. Ibarra is its capita city with the other main cities being Cotacachi, Otavalo, Atuntaqui, Pimampiro and Urcuqui. This province seats between the Natural Reserve of Cotacachi Cayapas and the National Park Cayambe-Coca, with a climate affected by being in between the ocean and the Andes, creating amazing agrocli- matic conditions for coffee production. One of the main economic activities of the region is the production of fruits and vegetables such as beans and corn. This is seen in means of production where farms have an integral management with association of crops such as coffee, plantain, citrus, tropical fruits, beans, corn, among others.
The province has a humid subtropical climate with temperatures ranging from 25oC to 27oC. Normally it has a dry season from June until beginning of September, a summer like season from September till mid-February and humid season from mid-February till May.
