Coast, sierra, and jungle – the geography of Peru fosters a stunning biodiversity, and informs the cultures found in each place. While a long history of high-altitude tropical agriculture ensured Peru had the building blocks for growing exceptional coffee, market access has historically proved difficult for Peruvian coffee farmers. This challenge, combined with exploitative purchasing practices enabled by a lack of transparency and information, has further hampered the progress of specialty coffee in Peru.

Since entering this market with our own export company, we have focused on seeking out quality-minded producers, offering them a clear picture of our quality-focused approach and its advantages, as well as providing technical advice on how to make improvements. In recent years, a specialty coffee mentality has been evolving slowly but steadily, and as the market grows, farmers are taking note and starting to improve their infrastructure and processes. We are excited to see this potential being reached in this fantastic specialty coffee origin.
