Alcides Gonzalez Bellota

Alcides Bellota is a forward driven coffee producer who is always seeking to improve his coffee and dreams about winning one day Cup of Excellence Peru. His farm, Bella Vista is located 30 minutes away from the town of Quillabamba in the district of La Convención, south of Peru. His parents are farmers who have been in agriculture all their life and from whom he learned the trait. Before Alcides was involved in coffee he worked at other farms with different crops. He purchased his current farm in 2017, which is near his parent’s farm, in the same valley. The idea of Alcides was to start with coffee so he cleaned and prepared the farm to produce coffee. Until 2019 he had his first production and ever since he has been focused on producing high quality coffee, always learning about new practices and processes, even keeping a journal with all the experiments he makes. Producing specialty coffee has made him more focused and detailed oriented, which according to him, has affected his life in general becoming more organized. At the farm, he lives with his wife Vicentina, and both share the chores of producing coffee. One of his goals and even main one, is to achieve high scoring coffees and winning Cup of Excellence. With this journey in coffee, he has become a beacon for quality coffee in the area, teaching others and being one of the few that does it. Even, he helps his parents as he convinced them to plant and produce coffee. In his quest to produce high quality coffee, he has also plant exotic varieties for that area of Peru such as Geisha, some 600 Bourbon trees he planted in February of 2022 and nursery of 200 trees of Pacamara he started during the second semester of 2022. His passion for good quality coffee, emanates from him and he wants to keep researching and learning more to get better. To achieve more of his goals, he is revamping his drying space.
