FINCA EL RECREO STORY

Dario comes from a coffee growing family. His parents were coffee growers and not only did he inherit Finca El Recreo from them, but also the desire to continue with his family’s coffee growing tradition. Dario has been producing coffee since the year 1975 when he began to help his parents with the daily labors of the farm. However, it was seven years ago when he decided to start a new project that would differentiate himself from the other convencional coffee producers. Dario started thinking about specialty coffee as he was looking for better opportunities to improve his family’s quality of life. Thanks to what he learned from his parents, with everything he studied about specialty coffee, he has become an excellent coffee producer.

Today, he thinks that the best experience in his life has been learning about specialty coffee and also getting to meet people from all over the world who have visited his farm. With these visits, he has been able to share knowledges and experiences with people from different parts of the coffee supply chain. Both, his wife, Maria Inés and his daughter help Dario keep track of the costs and incomes of their coffee business as well as hiring personnel for the harvest season. Dario is a coffee grower that every single day is searching for ways to improve his coffee. He has just started growing a new hectare of Pink Bourbon as he was interested in trying a new variety and is always eager to improve his cup quality.
