Geovanny Herrera Vargas

In the southern province of La Convención lies Calca, a province, where you can find Geovanny Herrera, a young coffee farmer, working on his plot of land at his parents’ farm, Nogalniyoc. Geovanny began his own coffee production after his father inherited him a parcel of land from the farm back in 2017. Initially, he was taught to treat coffee as just another crop to harvest, but over time, he learned that understanding how to harvest and process specialty coffee would yield better results. In 2021, he saw how his brother was selling specialty coffee for a good price, so he decided to follow the same path with his own coffee. Since then, he has planted different varieties to help improve quality and has learned many things from the visits of the PECA technician, such as the importance of good drying. As for his current goals and dreams, he hopes to plant more Bourbon and participate in the Cup of Excelence.
