FINCA SAN ANDRÉS STORY

High up in the coffee lands of Chalatenango, José Alfredo Recinos and his wife, Roxana own the farm San Andrés, which they named honoring their son Andrés. Jose Alfredo was born and raised around coffee as his father was dedicated to its production. Even though José Alfredo didn’t have the best relationship with his father, life was in charge of putting Jose Alfredo back in front of coffee. He married Roxana, who also came from a family of coffee producers. That was when Jose Alfredo started working with his father in law to move coffee forward and learn from him. Jose Alfredo started working in coffee on his own in 2002. Today, after acquiring their own farm, Jose Alfredo and Roxana has created a family business. Jose Alfredo is in charge of supervising the processes and the farm management, while Roxana oversees the drying process and giving instructions to the workers that they hire.

In 2013, Jose Alfredo started producing specialty coffee and this has helped them to sustain their farm and continue working on it, improving every day, receiving better incomes and improving the quality of life of their family. The experience, and all what Jose Alfredo has learned throughout these years, have led him to experiment and innovate in his processes. Jose Alfredo has started to produce honey and natural processed coffees and he plans to continue improving harvest after harvest. Jose Alfredo is truly proud of the quality of coffee that he produces on the farm.
