Mario Lovo Sotomayor
FINCA LA VICTORIA STORY
Finca la Victoria is located in the municipality of Dipilto. Martin Lovo bought the farm from Francisco Ponce 16 years ago, when it was still named Santa Helena. He bought the farm without knowing that on that same property, 50 years before, his Great Grand Mother had lived there.
Every year this farm grows in terms of area and productivity. Martin likes to innovate his processes, always looking to become more efficient as well as to improving the quality of his coffee. Recently he has implementing a new machine to help process his coffee. This machine selects all the ripe cherries after they have been picked, a job that used to be done by hand, helping make his farm processes more time-efficient. Martin has great shade management on Finca La Victoria, with over 50% of his coffee trees growing below shade.
Martin lives in the United States and he is a well-known immigration lawyer. Specialty coffee is his passion and he visits his farm every month during the harvest. His wife Victoria is also very dedicated to the farm and she works full-time on the business.
