FINCA PACAYNIYOC STORY
Mercedes Flores Torres and her husband Enrique Huisa live on their farm, Pacayniyoc, located in the southern province of La Convención at an altitude of 1,999 meters above sea level. Mercedes comes from a family of coffee farmers and has been involved in coffee production from a young age. In 2019, she began producing specialty coffee, motivated by the higher price it commands due to its superior quality, recognizing the effort.
On the farm, Mercedes is responsible for processing and drying the coffee, while her husband focuses on aspects such as fertilization and weeding. The guidance and advice of the PECA technician have been invaluable in helping her achieve the desired quality. Mercedes has had many positive experiences along the way, such as attending a Specialty Coffee Expo in Lima where she learned about the benefits of specialty coffee and discovered new markets for high-quality coffee.
As a woman, Mercedes takes great pride in being a successful coffee producer, and she and her husband are proud of their farm’s accomplishments. Their journey continues, and their goal is to increase the volume of specialty coffee they produce.
