FINCA EL JORDAN STORY

Rosendo Garzón, originally from Planadas, Tolima, comes from a traditional Colombian coffee growing family. He used to help his father and mother on the farm, taking care of the harvests and coffee processes. In 1988, he saw the opportunity to buy a piece of land to start growing coffee on his own and follow in the steps of his parents. That was when he purchased Finca El Jordan. Today, he runs his own coffee business with his own family, his wife Solanyi, and his children. Thanks to coffee and to what he has created on Finca El Jordan, Rosendo has been able to educate children and offer them a great quality of life.

Rosendo wouldn’t have been as successful in coffee if it weren’t for his family, especially his wife, who has helped him through thick and thin and together they have been able to continually improve what they do. Solanyi takes care of the drying process and provides food to the workers that they hire during the harvest. Rosendo takes care of the trees, carrying out fertilization, planting new varieties, training all the workers and he also carries out the de- pulping and fermentation processes.

Rosendo likes to innovate in his post-harvest process, he is open to continue learning and his main objective is to constantly improve the quality of his coffee. Since he has been focusing on producing specialty coffee, he has destined that extra income to continue investing in his farm and to improve the quality of life of his family.
