Vidal, a small-scale producer from San Pedro El Alto in Oaxaca, Mexico, runs the Las Primaveras farm with his wife, Luciana Cruz Perez. He has been growing coffee for 6 years, but 3 years ago, he shifted his focus to specialty coffee. With technical support from Caravela in the region, he learned to process the coffee effectively. Now Vidal wants to be recognized as the best coffee grower and increase his income. In addition to being a coffee grower, he also works as a day laborer.
Vidal’s coffee processing includes a 36-hour fermentation and 6-day drying on palm mats. He is proud to grow 100% Typica variety plants on his farm. His biggest challenge is to produce even better coffee, and he plans to expand his coffee plantation in the future.
