Volcanes
STORY
Guatemala is known for its dazzling topography which makes up the Sierra Madre Mountain range that runs through the country, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. 37 volcanoes rise from 2050 to 3020 masl, all with different formations. Some are high-rise conical volcanoes, some are lava domes, and still others form cinder cones. All this makes Guatemala a very seismic territory.
The producers that grow Volcanes are small-scale coffee growers, located on the slopes of the volcanoes and nearby areas. These soils are known as “Andosols” and are excellent for plant root development, water retention, and resistance to drought. These producers over time have managed to take advantage of the volcanic material found in the soil to produce high quality coffee and nutritious vegetables, creating a balance that benefits their family economy and provides additional sources of income.
This coffee blend has notes to dark chocolate, sweet almond, caramel, balanced acidity and a full body.
